In honor of Van Gogh's favorite color, yellow, our jewelry designs are created in opulent gold.
Since the dawn of time, humans have been fascinated by gold jewelry. This is quite fitting, due to the mystical, otherworldy origin of this sun colored sparkling substance. Scientists have discovered that gold came to our planet from the cosmos when it was showered upon the earth, millions of years ago, by falling asteroids.
The Incas called gold 'the sweat of the sun', Egyptians labeled it 'the breath of God' and draped their Pharoahs in it. The Aztecs also regarded gold as holy.
In ancient Greece, Alexander the Great spread news of his conquests and rose to fame throughout the empire by engraving his face on gold coins. Centuries later, Napolean gilded Paris with gold to celebrate his victory.
Romans called gold 'the muscle of war'. This phrase was exemplified during WWII when the allied forces worked diligently to hide their gold from the Nazis. They did this because Hitler instructed his troops to steal and stockpile their enemy's gold to finance their expanding invasion.
In the Bible gold is mentioned repeatedly. For example, God instructed Moses to build a tabernacle of gold. The Arc of the Covenant was also made of gold.
Treasure hunters throughout history have searched for chests of golden coins that were buried or on sunken ships. Even today, this precious metal is cherished and kept safe in secret vaults and treasuries worldwide. Gold jewelry evokes a timeless, opulent heritage which continues to endure.
Throughout the centuries as the value of paper money goes up and down, the worth of gold jewelry has remained strong. It's physical quality is timeless as well. Golden treasures buried for thousands of years that have been discovered by archaeologists, appear to shine as brightly as the day they were made. The value of gold is eternal. It is truly a timeless treasure.
In honor of Van Gogh, VinScént is working in collaboration with charities to uplift African communities from which gold and diamonds are mined. A portion of the proceeds from our jewelry will be donated to African educational charites in these mining regions.
